My closest friends know that I seriously detest Play-Doh. No kidding, I look at moms who let their kids use it (especially those who play WITH their kids) as super heroes. I have had too many bad experiences (the grease from that stuff does NOT come off walls, and heaven help us all when Play-Doh gets in the carpet!!). Those close to me know that giving my child Play-Doh to take home is basically equivalent to telling me, “I hate you” (that is only sort-of a joke)!
Anyways, someone (who does not know my detestation for Play-Doh) asked me the other day what could be done with dried up Play-Doh. Of course, my response was, “Just throw it away!!” (Which I also think they could have done with the not-dried-up package, but … I digress!)
As we were talking about how ineffective it is to attempt to work with dried out Play-Doh, I began to remember the verses in Scripture about being clay in the hands of the Master Potter. And I started thanking God for not throwing out this dried up Play-Doh!
I remembered how He formed me (Isaiah 44:24), and who am I to question His plan for me (Isaiah 29:16)?
Thank you, God, for being willing to remake the broken vessel (Jeremiah 18:4)!!
So the next time you see the dried up Play-Doh, remember to thank God for taking the messy clay and making something beautiful!
PS: If you really do have dried up Play-Doh, Hasbro suggests using a drop of water at a time and kneading it in or putting a damp paper towel in the container with the dried dough overnight.
What do you think about Play-Doh? Any other “kid stuff” that you just can’t stand?!?
