Back in the Saddle

When I started to look for an image with which to begin this post, I saw several pictures of gorgeous horses and beautiful saddles. Then I saw this one and I realized how perfectly it captures what I am trying to say, “I’m getting back in the saddle! I’m ready to start blogging consistently again … But I’m also scared to death that I’m going to drown because I’m just not quite sure what is coming!”

Often, however, God calls us to step up and step out even when we cannot see what the future holds. Faith in His promise to work out our circumstances for our good and His glory prods us to trust Him and step outside of our comfort zone. So despite my inability to see where exactly the road ahead is leading, I am acknowledging God and trusting Him to direct my path.

We made it to Albuquerque, NM, which (according to the Air Force’s current plans) will be our home for approximately the next four years. It is a beautiful place in a rugged, desert sort of way. There are mountains, and this makes my heart incredibly happy because I have desperately missed the mountains since leaving Germany. In fact, we’ve spent nearly every weekend (all of them except for those during which we were sick) exploring the mountains! We have not yet closed on our house, and we won’t until the end of the month, so we are currently living in our 30′ trailer … yes, all 9 of us and 2 dogs! It has been both fun and challenging, and we can all say that it has been a growing experience!

This weekend, however, my amazing husband sent me away to a local hotel so that I would have some time to rest and write. Honestly, those are my two favorite activities at this stage of life. I had 10.5 uninterrupted hours of sleep last night, and to say that I feel like a whole new person this morning would be an understatement. It is amazing what solid sleep can do for the weary soul!

What have you been up to? What new things are happening in your life, and how is God using that to help you grow?

I look forward to engaging more in the days and months to come!

Abiding in His Grace,

Stephani
